Chartering NAWIC Guam Chapter #381

NAWIC Guam Chapter #381 officially came to life in March 2012, thanks to the vision and leadership of Dr. Jaylene Kent, C.I.T. As our founding president, Dr. Kent helped shape the chapter’s mission: to support and uplift women in Guam’s construction industry. From day one, she’s been a driving force—laying the groundwork for community outreach, professional development, and lasting impact.

Dr. Kent continues to serve on the board and remains a strong presence in the industry as co-owner of Isla Coatings and Roofing. Her commitment to building up others is woven into the chapter’s DNA.

The chartering of NAWIC Guam wasn’t a solo effort. It was made possible by a network of supporters—members of the Guam Contractors Association (GCA), local business leaders, government officials, and industry professionals—who believed in the power of women in construction. Their support helped align our chapter with NAWIC’s national goals: mentorship, networking, and growth.

We’re proud to recognize the individuals and organizations who stood with us at the beginning. Their belief in our mission helped turn a vision into a movement.

In this special interview, Founding President Dr. Jaylene Kent and Charter President Ann Marie Pelobello  talk about Fu-una Rising, and the legacy they continue to shape.
